Amid the raging controversy over Finance Ministry’s 2G note, MoS in the PMO V Narayanasamy on Tuesday said the Union Cabinet was united and that there was no tussle going on among its ministers.

Narayanasamy was reacting to reports of a war going on between Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Home Minister P Chidambaram.

A Finance Ministry note, sent to the Prime Minister’s Office on March 25 this year, had stated that had Chidambaram insisted the allocation of 2G spectrum in 2008 at 2001 prices could have been stopped, thus preventing the Rs 1.76 lakh crore loss caused to the exchequer.

The note was prepared by a Finance Ministry official and reportedly seen by current Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee,

It highlighted the growing discord between two senior UPA ministers.

Narayanasamy also rejected reports that Chidambaram had offered to resign when he met Congress president Sonia Gandhi yesterday.

Meanwhile, Mukherjee again said that today that he would comment on the controversy, if needed, only tomorrow after meeting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his other colleagues.

Talking to reporters in Kolkata today, Mukherjee said, “I told you yesterday after I landed at airport from USA that Prime Minister is outside India. So, I would not like to make any comment on finance ministry note, which has been placed before court obtained through an RTI applicant.”

“Prime Minister is coming back this evening and I am going back to Delhi tomorrow evening. I will comment only if necessary after consulting Prime Minister and my other colleagues,” he added.
